Hope to see you there!
Burnaby’s Secondary Schools offer so many opportunities for students to be inspired to reach their potential. Learning options include Career Education, French Immersion, Summit Programs, Sports Academies, BETA Mini-school for Highly Able Learners, AP courses, and the AP Capstone program. New programs for fall 2018 include a lacrosse academy, volleyball academy and three leading edge technology programs – all offered at Cariboo Hill. Students going into grades 8-12 and their parents are invited to attend our Secondary School Open House Events. They provide an opportunity to tour the schools, meet the staff and learn about optional programs and course selection. LEARN MORE
All of our grade 7 students will be participating in a project with the Fortius Foundation to take our students to the Fortius facility for 10 – two hour sessions over a 10 week period. The program itself will be focusing on physical literacy, fundamental movements, as well as mental and physical well-being. The program is called KidsMove and is being funded entirely through the Fortius Foundation. This is a pilot project in the Burnaby School District and will offer this highly regarded program to six of our schools from January to June in 2018. This program will enhance and augment our Physical and Health Education Program and connects very well with the revised curriculum outcomes around healthy living, as well as physical and mental health. Please check out this short informational video and please call us if you have more questions.
Registration for Kindergarten and new students will be taking place in Burnaby during the month of February. Priority for the upcoming school year will be given to applications received during the month of February (February 1 – Feb. 28). Students register at the school within the designated attendance area where the student ordinarily resides or make an application to attend another school or educational program within the district.
Kindergarten registrations for the 2018-19 school year are for children born in the year 2013.
